This lab introduces beginning and intermediate sculpture students to the process of creating multiples from a live model or from one’s own body. Using skin safe silicone and plaster bandages, students will create reusable molds of the body part of their choice (i.e. hand, foot, ear, etc…). Students will gain an understanding of one and two-part mold making, while having hands on experience with silicone.

In this Intro to Body Casting I lab, students will make molds of each other, making it an ideal workshop to take with someone.

Although some familiarity with 2-part mold making is helpful, no previous sculpture experience is necessary for enrollment.
